Technology should feel human.

Rafiat is a graduate student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. She holds a Master’s degree in Collective Intelligence from UM6P, Morocco, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Agricultural & Bio-Resources Engineering.

Her primary interest is Human-Computer Interaction, focused on intelligent, human-centered systems that enhance user experiences and support sustainable solutions. Her current research investigates how Manitoba farmers use AI—particularly trust, decision-making, and conflicts between AI recommendations and farmers’ expertise.

A distinctive thread of her work centers on Indigenous farmers, examining how traditional knowledge systems and cultural values shape and are shaped by AI in agricultural settings. Her goal is to inform trustworthy, inclusive, meaningful systems for farming communities across Manitoba and beyond.

Beyond academics, Rafiat leads, volunteers, supports community development, and mentors students—especially women in STEM.
